Midjourney ends free trial due to extraordinary abuse

Midjourney CEO, David Holz, announced on Discord that the company is ending free trials.

Due to “extraordinary demand and trial abuse”.

New safeguards haven’t been sufficient and now you’ll have to pay at least $10 per month to use the image generator.

Midjourney has gotten some unwanted attention in recent weeks. Users relied on the company’s AI to build deepfakes of Donald Trump being arrested, and Pope Francis wearing a trendy coat.

AI tools are spawning new jobs as companies look to hire ‘prompt engineers’

Finally some good news on jobs getting taken over by AI.

Worker displacement from automation has historically been offset by creation of new jobs. Technological innovation accounts for the vast majority of long-run employment growth.

One role now showing up in job listings is ‘Prompt Engineer’ or ‘AI whisperer’ as some may call it.

The job is mainly to help train LLM’s (Large Language Models’ to deliver more accurate and useful responses.

More generally, the goal is to make AI smarter and more capable of accomplishing a wide array of professional tasks.

Last but not least: some companies are willing to pay big bucks for prompt engineers.

   In an extraordinary move, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khameini has issued a fatwa against Artificial Intelligencem calling it “satanic”. Anyone using the quickly developing technology would be punished by hanging.
