Googleās Turbocharges it AI efforts
Big news in the world of artificial intelligence!
Google has decided to merge their āGoogle Brainā and āDeepMindā teams and create one big AI team called āGoogle DeepMindā.
Deepmind was acquired by Alphabet in 2014.
Alphabet and Google CEO, Sundar Pichai, said that this new collaboration will āsuperchargeā their AI progress.
Demis Hassabis, the current CEO of DeepMind, will lead Google DeepMind, where he'll focus on developing intelligent systems that are both responsible and effective.
Meanwhile, Jeff Dean, former Google Research and Health senior vice president and Brain team co-founder, will become the chief scientist for both Google Research and Google DeepMind.
Despite some past friction between Google and DeepMind, they're now hoping to develop advanced AI products that will improve society as a whole.
However, Google's recent AI chatbot, Bard, was criticized by some employees for its performance, and improvements are expected.
Overall, it's a major step forward for the world of AI, and we can't wait to see what they come up with!
First Look: Humaneās AI Wearable Projector
Humane, the tech startup founded by ex-Apple stars Imran Chaudhri and Bethany Bongiorno, just unveiled its secret weapon at a TED talk.
It's a wearable device that projects a screen onto your hand, and it's got some nifty AI features too.
I obtained a video of @Humane 's AI-powered wearable projector in action (clipped from a video @ZarifAli9 sent me of the #TED2023 by @imranchaudhri)

Chaudhri kicked things off by talking about how AI is going to change our world, and then revealed his vision for Humane's new device: it's a screenless, standalone, AI-powered projector that you can control with your voice or by tapping it.
The device is also loaded with features like translation, call-handling, and even a "catch-me-up" function that recaps important info for you.
But the real magic is in the way the device blends into your life seamlessly, sensing your surroundings and responding in a natural, human-like way.
